545th Military Police Company First Team’s Finest Polar Bear’s Finest Unit and Individual Awards and Decorations As of January 25, 2012
The images shown here above are just some of the individual service and campaign medals earned by the members of the 545th MP Company from World War II through the present day and are worn proudly by its many serving Military Policemen and women as well as its veterans.
The ribbons shown here above are of unit awards earned by the 545th Military Police Company throughout its glorious history and are as follows:
TOP ROW Presidential Unit Citation (Army), Valorous Unit Citation
CENTER ROW Meritorious Unit Citation (Army) w/three Oak Leaf Clusters, Philippine Presidential Citation and Korean Presidential Citation
BOTTOM ROW Chryssoun Aristion Andrias (Bravery Gold Medal of Greece), Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm and Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Medal, First Class w/Palm
NOTE: The Bravery Gold Ribbon of Greece is not authorized for wear by active duty MPs but a streamer is authorized for the unit Guidon (see Guidon Tab in this Web Site). The Ribbon is authorized for wear by the unit Association Honor Guard.
Republic of Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation
The 545th MP Company was submitted and approved for this above unit award, but the country fell to the communists before the orders were cut and presented formally to the company.
The old MP Platoon, HQS Troop, 1st Cavalry Division was also awarded the old style Meritorious Unit Citation in Theater by GEN Douglas Macarthur. This was a gold wreath sewn on the right lower sleeve of the uniform. It was only authorized for wear in the Pacific Theater while assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division.
